How we ranked these hotels: we have not stayed at these hotels for this article. We read each hotel's guest reviews on TripAdvisor on 8 October 2026, including the overall score, the scores for rooms, service and value, the number of reviews, and the most recent 50 reviews in full, and checked the hotels' facts against their opening announcements. We ranked them on consistency (a high score over many reviews, and recent reviews that match it), service and value. Hotels could not pay to be included. Booking links appear only where we confirmed the hotel has rooms on Rakuten Travel.

Osaka's top hotels cost a fraction of Tokyo's, and two big new arrivals, the Four Seasons in 2024 and the Waldorf Astoria in 2025, have made the competition much stronger. Most are in the north of the city, around Umeda and Osaka Station or on Nakanoshima island, which is convenient for trains to Kyoto, Nara and Kansai Airport but a subway ride from Dotonbori and Namba.

Scores, review counts and price ranges are TripAdvisor's as of 8 October 2026.

1. Conrad Osaka

Why it's first: 4.7 from about 1,260 reviews, rooms rated 4.9 and cleanliness 4.9, and 46 of its last 50 reviews at five stars.

Opened in 2017 on floors 33–40 of Nakanoshima Festival Tower West, the Conrad has 164 rooms with views over the Dojima River and the city. Guests praise the rooms, the gym, the breakfast and afternoon tea, the executive lounge, and the C:Grill and Kura teppanyaki restaurants. The few complaints are about individual staff: an unfriendly server at afternoon tea, front-desk service that felt stiffly formal.

Best for: views, food and a calm base between Umeda and Yodoyabashi. Check rates for the Conrad Osaka on Rakuten Travel.

2. InterContinental Osaka

Why it's second: the same 4.7 as the Conrad from nearly twice as many reviews, value of 4.3, and the lowest prices on this list.

Opened in 2013 above Grand Front Osaka, directly north of Osaka Station, with the lobby on the 20th floor. Guests praise the large rooms, the club lounge, the restaurants, the live music in the bar and the service. Complaints are minor: a lost-property mix-up, strict family hours in the public bath.

Best for: the best value at this level, a few minutes' walk from Osaka Station. Check rates for the InterContinental Osaka on Rakuten Travel.

3. The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka

Why it's third: a lower long-run score (4.5) and value (4.0) than the two above, but the best recent reviews of any hotel here: 49 of its last 50 gave five stars.

The Ritz-Carlton, open since 1997 in Nishi-Umeda with 291 rooms, has a classic, English-country-house interior. Guests love the service, which several call the best in Japan, the club lounge and the restaurants, and its connection to the Umeda stations and department stores. Older reviews mention rooms that felt dated; recent reviewers rarely do.

Best for: traditional luxury and service, and club-floor guests. Check rates for the Ritz-Carlton Osaka on Rakuten Travel.

4. Waldorf Astoria Osaka

Why it's fourth: excellent scores (rooms 4.9, sleep 4.9, value 4.4) for the brand's first hotel in Japan, but only 88 reviews so far, and some sharp complaints.

Opened on 3 April 2025 at the top of the Grand Green Osaka South Park Tower, beside Osaka Station's new Umekita area, with 252 rooms. Guests praise the spacious rooms with walk-in closets and spa-like bathrooms, the location five minutes from Osaka Station, and the staff. Critics, at around US$1,000 a night, felt details fell short, and one found the breakfast buffet crowded.

Best for: the newest hotel in Osaka, near the station.

5. Four Seasons Hotel Osaka

Why it's fifth: 4.5 from 59 reviews, with the lowest service score here (4.2).

Opened in August 2024 on floors 28–37 of One Dojima, with 175 rooms. Guests love the pool, the views from the bar, the breakfast and the tatami-style rooms with access to the Sabo lounge. But several reviews, including three one-star ones, describe service and housekeeping below Four Seasons standards.

Best for: design, the pool and the views, if you can accept some uneven service.

6. The St. Regis Osaka

Why it's sixth: a strong long-run score (4.5 from about 2,100 reviews), but the weakest recent reviews: only 28 of its last 50 gave five stars, and 14 gave three stars or fewer.

Opened in October 2010 on Midosuji, directly above Honmachi Station, with 160 rooms and butler service. Guests still praise the location, between Umeda and Namba, and the butlers. Critics say the rooms are no longer up to St. Regis standards, and describe strong odors in the corridors and a poor welcome in the bar.

Best for: location between north and south Osaka, and Marriott members.
