Cheap Hotels in Tokyo Near a Station: 7 Picks (2026)
Seven well-rated Tokyo hotels for two under ¥27,000 a night, each a short walk from a station: Asakusabashi, Akihabara, Ueno, Asakusa, Shinjuku, Daimon.

A cheap room in Tokyo is easy to find. A cheap room that is clean, well reviewed and a few minutes from a station is not. The lowest prices on any booking site are capsules, hostel dorms and hotels out by Narita or in Saitama, and an hour on a train each way costs more than you save.
So we set three rules: a private room for two with its own bathroom, a guest score of at least 8.6, and a walk of no more than eight minutes to a station on a line that takes you somewhere useful. Seven hotels passed. Most of them are on the east side of the city, and that is the main finding: if you want cheap and central, stay around Asakusabashi, Akihabara, Ueno or Asakusa, not Shibuya.
How we picked these: we have not stayed at these hotels for this article. Prices are the cheapest room for two adults shown on Trip.com for the night of Wednesday 18 November 2026, checked on 15 October 2026, including taxes and fees. Guest scores and review counts are Trip.com's on the same day. Walking times and facilities come from each hotel's own website. Hotels could not pay to be included.

Several of the cheapest rooms are semi-doubles, a bed about 120–140 cm wide. That is fine for one person and tight for two. If you are two adults who want to sleep well, look at the twin or double rooms on the same page, which usually cost a few thousand yen more.

Toyoko Inn Tokyo Akiba Asakusabashi-eki Higashi-guchi: the cheapest
At about ¥16,900 for two, with breakfast, this was the cheapest room on the list by more than ¥4,000. The hotel says it is a three-minute walk from the East Exit of JR Asakusabashi Station and three minutes from the Toei Asakusa Line station. That second line matters more than it looks: the Toei Asakusa Line runs direct trains to both Haneda and Narita airports, so on arrival and departure days you can often skip a transfer. The JR Sobu Line from the same station reaches Akihabara in one stop.
Toyoko Inn is one of Japan's largest budget chains, and the rooms are small and much the same from one branch to the next. What you get is a free breakfast, a self-check-in kiosk and reliable cleanliness. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is at 10:00, earlier than most Western hotels.

Super Hotel Akihabara Suehiro-cho: breakfast included, best score
The highest guest score on the list, 9.2, and breakfast is included in the price. The hotel lists itself as about two minutes from Suehirocho Station on the Ginza Line, which runs through Ueno, Ginza and Asakusa without a change, and its official name includes its public bath, Aizome no Yu. Akihabara's electronics shops are a short walk south.
Check-out is at 10:00, and the hotel charges the full room rate for cancellations after 15:00 on the day of arrival.

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Ueno-Okachimachi: the most stations within reach
This hotel is surrounded by stations. Its own access page lists Ueno-hirokoji on the Ginza Line at one minute from Exit A4, JR Okachimachi (Yamanote Line) at three minutes, Yushima on the Chiyoda Line at three, and Keisei Ueno at five minutes, where the Skyliner leaves for Narita. Ueno Park and the Ameyoko market street are both close.
It also has the most reviews of the east-side hotels here, 877, at a score of 9.0. The cheapest room on our date was a semi-double.

Shinjuku Washington Hotel: the Shinjuku option, with airport buses
If you want to be on the Shinjuku side, this is the cheapest well-reviewed hotel we found there. It is not the closest to the station: the hotel says it is about eight minutes from the South Exit of JR Shinjuku Station, through an underground passage that is open from 6:00 to 22:45, and about five minutes from Tochomae on the Oedo Line. After the passage closes you walk at street level.
What it has instead is the airport. Limousine buses to Haneda and Narita leave from in front of the hotel's main entrance: about an hour and ¥1,400 to Haneda, about two hours and ¥3,600 to Narita, according to the hotel. That saves dragging a suitcase through Shinjuku Station, one of the busiest stations in the world. It is a large hotel with over 6,000 reviews and a steady 8.6. The cheapest room on our date was an economy double with a small double bed.

Dormy Inn EXPRESS Asakusa: next to the station and Senso-ji
The hotel says it is two minutes from Exit 5 of the subway at Asakusa and three minutes from Senso-ji and the Kaminarimon gate. Asakusa Station is served by the Ginza Line, the Toei Asakusa Line (direct trains to both airports again) and the Tobu line towards Nikko. You will be close enough to see the temple before the tour groups arrive.
Dormy Inn hotels are known for their public baths; this one's is the Asahiyu. The cheapest room on our date was a semi-double.

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Hamamatsucho-Daimon: closest to Haneda
If you have an early flight from Haneda, stay here. The hotel lists Daimon Station (Toei Asakusa and Oedo Lines) at four minutes from Exit A5 and JR and monorail Hamamatsucho at eight minutes, and puts Haneda at about 18 minutes on the Tokyo Monorail. Tokyo Tower is a short walk west.
The cheapest room we saw on our date was a smoking double. If you want non-smoking, choose it on the room list, and expect to pay a little more. For the airport trip itself, see Haneda to Tokyo.

Dormy Inn Akihabara: the bath for the price
The last and most expensive of the seven, at about ¥26,800. The hotel says it is about a minute from Suehirocho Station on the Ginza Line and about five minutes from JR Akihabara. What the money buys is the bath: Suehiro no Yu on the 9th floor, which the hotel describes as having the feel of a hot spring inn, with an open-air bath on the men's side. After a day on foot in Tokyo, some people will think that is worth about ¥5,500 more than the Super Hotel nearby, and some will not. The cheapest room on our date was a semi-double.

Why there is nothing in Shibuya
We checked the well-rated hotels close to Shibuya Station for the same night. The cheapest, the Shibuya Tokyu Rei Hotel, was over ¥33,000 before tax, and the Shibuya Granbell was about ¥34,000. Shibuya is a great place to spend an evening, but it is not where to look for a cheap bed. The Ginza Line takes you there from Suehirocho, Ueno-hirokoji or Asakusa without changing trains.
When prices change
These prices are for one ordinary weekday in November, so treat them as a guide to which hotels are cheapest, not as the price you will pay. Friday and Saturday nights cost more everywhere, and so do late March to early April (cherry blossom), Golden Week at the start of May and the New Year holiday. Early booking matters most in those weeks; see when to book in Tokyo.
FAQ
What is a cheap hotel price in Tokyo in 2026? For a private room for two with its own bathroom, in a central area and well reviewed, about ¥17,000 to ¥27,000 a night on a weekday outside the peak seasons, based on the seven hotels above. Below that, you are usually looking at capsules, hostels or hotels far from the centre.
Which area of Tokyo is cheapest to stay in? Of the central areas, the east side: Asakusabashi, Akihabara, Ueno and Asakusa. Every one of the four cheapest hotels on this list is there.
Is breakfast included at Tokyo business hotels? Sometimes. It is included at Toyoko Inn and Super Hotel. At the others on this list it costs extra, and the cheapest room rate usually excludes it.
Are Tokyo hotel rooms really small? Yes, at this price. Expect a room where the bed takes up most of the floor. Bring one soft bag rather than two hard suitcases, or leave the big case in luggage storage.
